It's been quite a week with The Big Sexy being so sick and finally admitted to the hospital on Friday.  He is still having the fevers and headaches, and the doctors say it could take a few more days for him to start to feel better.  Last Wednesday, we were supposed to have a Rosh Hashanah dinner at our house, but it ended up being just my mom, Charlie and me sitting at the table, and bringing Jonny his dinner up on a tray.  It was the first time in a few days that he could eat anything of substance and I wanted to make something yummy that he might be able to enjoy, but I didn't have a lot of time to prepare anything.  I went to Whole Foods and wandered around and then remembered seeing an ad for Field Roast... in the frozen section, high up, I found their Stuffed Hazelnut Cranberry Roast and thought it could be a good test run, in case I wanted to bring some to my sister's omni Thanksgiving in NY.  It was DELICIOUS!  The description is "a sumptuous rich grain meat seasoned with toasted hazelnuts and rosemary stuffed with a sausage style mixture of Field Roast, cranberries, apples and crystallized ginger.  Wrapped en croute with a rich vegan puff pastry"  Doesn't that sound good?  I served it with the Walnut Dressing and also roasted some yams and asparagus on a silpat non-stick sheet (thank you Robin) sprayed with Bragg's and dusted with curry powder and cumin.  Jonny asked if I got the recipe from one of Isa's cookbooks and said it was the best thing he has eaten since going vegan (including the fabulous restaurants we went to in Chicago!)  I know it is not the healthiest thing (I can hear Char Nolan already tsk tsking over the oil)... but for a celebration or very occasional treat, it is highly recommended!

By the way, I am participating in Vegan MoFo (sorry, links in the blog still not working... click on the logo to the right to get to their page), which is a month-long blogging project about vegan food.  There are some really cool bloggers taking part, check them out.
